Bosch launches 'On Track' - programme for engineering talent in India

Bangalore: Auto component major, Bosch today flagged off a programme targeting engineering talent in India, to allow students to experience first hand technological innovations from Bosch and to get practical insights into the professional life of an engineer.

The programme, named "On Track", will be held over three days at Bosch's premises in Bangalore. About 850 students and 50 professors from 30 colleges and universities across India have been invited by the company.

Utilizing simulators and product models, Bosch engineers will explain development and functionality of Anti-Lock Braking Systems (ABS), Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and ‘Start-Stop’. In face-to-face discussions they will also emphasize their personal contribution to these products in their day-to-day work and inform the visitors about professional and personal requirements for a career within Bosch.

At "On Track" the students will tour the Common-Rail-System manufacturing plant. This is intended to provide close insights into tasks and responsibilities of production engineers and the comparative advantages of Bosch technology.

Cars have been displayed, showcasing Bosch products in operating mode, like environment friendly Diesel and Gasoline Fuel Injection system, fuel saving Start-Stop System and latest Car Navigation systems. Tata Nano cars will demonstrate Bosch innovation in the Low Priced Vehicle segment.

Vintage cars with Bosch products, the oldest one a Mercedes built in 1928, have also been exhibited. This is intended to allow a glance into Bosch history and the company founder’s close cooperation with automotive pioneers.

Young associates from Bosch will explain variety of Bosch products and divisions that are shown at the ‘Bosch Knowledge Center’.

“On Track” is a collaborative effort of all Bosch companies in India.

In India, the Bosch Group operates through six companies - Bosch Limited, Bosch Chassis Systems India Limited, Bosch Rexroth India Limited, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Limited, Bosch Automotive Electronics India Pvt Ltd, Bosch Electrical Drives India Pvt Ltd.

At the event, the students and professors will experience first hand the latest technologies Bosch has pioneered and get into personal contact with Bosch associates.

The first event of this kind conducted at Chennai Race Track in March 2008. Hence the name!
