Cumulative production in Automotive sector up 12.07% for first half of 2009 |

New Delhi: Cumulative production data of the automotive sector for the first half of 2009 (April-October) indicates a growth in production of 12.07 percent over same period last year. During April-October 2009, overall automobile exports registered a growth rate of 5.45 percent. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), exports and Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles Market Remain Areas of Concern. The overall Commercial Vehicles segment registered positive growth at 5.36 percent during April-October 2009 as compared to the same period last year. Light Commercial Vehicles grew at 22.65 percent. However, Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) registered de-growth at (-) 11.26 percent. In Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles segment, both passenger and goods carrier segments registered de-growth with growth rate being (-) 8.14 percent and (-) 11.91 percent respectively. |
