Bangalore: India's largest passenger car exporter and second largest car maker, Hyundai Motor India, seems to be favoring Gujarat for its third plant in India. A 100% subsidiary of South Korea's Hyundai Motor Company, Hyundai Motor India has two manufacturing plants in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu. The plants have a combined annual capacity of 600,000 units. The car manufacturer is now scouting for a location for its third plant in India and the Gujarat government is keen to to provide the infrastructure support the company requires. According to sources Hyundai will require about 500 acres of land to set up the third manufacturing facility and an additional 200 to 300 acres for its vendors. The 'Vibrant Gujarat' summit, a biennial global summit aimed at attracting businesses and investors to Gujarat, is scheduled to be held in January in Gandhinagar. |
