Manufacturing excellence award for BHEL Tiruchirappalli

BHEL Tiruchirappalli Manufacturing Plant has been jointly declared winners for manufacturing excellence & scale-up in power generation equipment and Balance Of Plant Auxiliaries at the 5th ENERTIA Awards 2011 function held in Mumbai, recently.

The award for BHEL-Tiruchi was given for commissioning the nation’s largest Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion (CFBC) boiler-based power plant of 250-MW capacity for Neyveli Lignite Corporation in 2011. The award also acknowledges that BHEL Tiruchi has India’s largest manufacturing facility for supercritical once-through boiler of 600 MW and above.

The award was also given to BHEL Tiruchi for having one of the most integrated and state-of-the-art boiler manufacturing facilities in Asia.

CFBC has the advantage of burning a wide range of fuel including Low grade coals, high ash rejects high sulphur coals, lignites, bio-mass, waste and other difficult fuels.BHEL Tiruchirappalli has so far supplied and contracted over 28 units of CFBC boilers capable of generating around 3000 MW of energy.

Similarly, BHEL has also won Technology and Innovation Awards in the Conventional Energy for being India’s “Top Grade World Class” Technology provider and BTG equipment supplier. Whereas, BHEL Bhopal unit has been jointly declared winners Manufacturing Excellence and Scale-up in Power Transmission & Distribution.

The "5th ENERTIA Awards 2011" instituted by the ENERTIA Journal - Asia’s Premier Journal on Sustainable Energy and Power are India’s Top prestigious and pioneering Awards in the Energy and Power Sector in India.

Mr S Sundararajan, General Manager, Research & Development, BHEL, Tiruchirappalli received the award from Mr Ivan Kamenik, Director, Czech Trade Promotion Agency, Czech Republic on behalf of BHEL Tiruchi.
