NMDC Steel Limited (NSL) has been certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for manufacturing hot-rolled steel strip, sheet, and plates for welded steel pipes used in pipeline transportation systems. The certification complies with the Indian Standard IS 18384:2023, which specifies general requirements for steel products utilized in the petroleum and natural gas industries.

The certification was awarded during BIS’s Foundation Day event in New Delhi. Prashant Sharma, Head of Quality at NMDC Steel, accepted the recognition on behalf of the company. The event also featured officials from the BIS and the Department of Consumer Affairs.

NMDC Steel operates with a production capacity of 3.0 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and has also secured four Integrated Management System (IMS) ISO certifications from BIS earlier in the year.
