Garuda Aerospace has inaugurated a Defence Drone Facility in Thalambur, Chennai, coinciding with the unveiling of five unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The facility was opened during Raksha Udaan 2025, an event attended by Minister Sanjay Seth.
The company introduced five UAVs designed for varied defence applications: Avalanche Victim Drone for high-altitude search and rescue, Swarm Drone for coordinated surveillance and strike, Jawan Drone for frontline soldier support, Canister Dropping Drone for rapid payload delivery, and Droni 2.0, a multipurpose drone for defence and civilian operations.
At the event, Garuda Aerospace also announced a Free Remote Pilot Certification Programme for defence personnel, with the first batch receiving their certificates. In addition, a Defence Drone Lab will be set up in partnership with the 13 JAK Rifles in Ladakh and Gwalior to support technology development.
The company laid the foundation stone for a 76-acre Defence Park in Cheyyur, Tamil Nadu, intended to focus on AI-powered weaponised drone systems. Other initiatives included the introduction of Garuda Akash Raksha Vans, which will provide mobile drone deployment, maintenance, and repair services, as well as free training programmes for widows of fallen soldiers.
A book titled Garuda Raksha Udaan 2025 Impact Book, outlining the company’s milestones, was also released during the event.
Garuda Aerospace, headquartered in Chennai, specialises in drone technology for multiple applications, including defence, agriculture, and industrial use. The company has been expanding its portfolio with UAVs designed for both civilian and military operations.
