Godawari Power and Ispat Limited has made a further investment of INR 739.5 million in its wholly owned subsidiary, Godawari New Energy Private Limited, to support capital expenditure and working capital requirements for a battery energy storage system manufacturing project. The investment was completed through the allotment of preference shares on 16 December 2025 and forms part of the parent company’s ongoing expansion into the energy storage segment.
The Raipur-headquartered steel and power producer said the investment was executed through the allotment of 73.95 million non-cumulative participating optionally convertible redeemable preference shares of face value INR 10 each, issued at par on a rights basis.
Godawari New Energy Private Limited was incorporated on 25 June 2025 and is currently in the process of setting up a battery energy storage system plant with a planned capacity of 20 gigawatt-hours in its first phase. The funds raised through the preference share issuance will be utilised to meet proposed capital expenditure and working capital requirements for establishing this facility.
Godawari New Energy operates in the energy sector, with a specific focus on battery energy storage systems. While its registered office is located in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, the manufacturing operations for the battery energy storage system plant are proposed to be set up in the state of Maharashtra. No governmental or regulatory approvals are required for the completion of this investment, the company stated.
As of 30 September 2025, the subsidiary reported a net worth of INR 255.0 million and had not recorded any turnover, reflecting its early-stage status prior to the commencement of manufacturing activities. The allotment of the preference shares on 16 December 2025 marked the completion of the current round of investment.
