Sharda Motor Industries Limited, a publicly listed Tier-1 automotive components manufacturer, has signed a technology licence agreement with Donghee Industries Company Limited of the Republic of Korea to develop and manufacture suspension components for the Indian market.
The agreement covers local production of control arms, torsion beams and sub-frames for domestic and global original equipment manufacturer platforms. It targets application across sport utility vehicle, electric and premium passenger vehicle segments.
According to a press release issued on 29 October 2025, Donghee will transfer design drawings, process know-how and validation protocols to Sharda Motor. The transfer includes manufacturing processes and validation procedures intended to meet OEM quality and performance requirements.
Sharda Motor said the agreement expands its suspension capability in lightweight engineering and structural design while adding content per vehicle through locally produced assemblies. “This partnership enables SMIL to enhance its suspension product portfolio by strengthening technology expertise and adding significant content per vehicle,” said Aashim Relan, Group Chief Executive Officer of Sharda Motor Industries.
For Donghee, the arrangement supports its strategy to supply suspension technologies to Indian and global OEMs. “The partnership aligns with our long-term strategy to provide suspension technologies for Indian and global OEMs,” said Joo-Eun Park, Chief Executive Officer of Donghee Industries.
The companies stated that the localisation effort aims to address capability gaps in India’s supply chain for higher-specification suspension parts and to support integration with next-generation vehicle platforms. Donghee supplies chassis, suspension and body systems to multiple global manufacturers, and the collaboration is positioned to leverage Sharda Motor’s scale and OEM relationships.
Sharda Motor, established in 1986 and headquartered in Delhi, operates eight production facilities and one research and development centre in India. The company reported consolidated revenue of INR 28.36 billion for the financial year 2024–25. Donghee Industries, founded in 1972 and based in Suwon-si, South Korea, recorded consolidated revenue of USD 2.05 billion in 2024 and operates manufacturing facilities in Korea, China, Europe and the United States.
