Apollo Micro Systems Limited has secured regulatory approval for the manufacture of high-energy explosive materials through its step-down subsidiary, IDL Explosives Limited. The industrial licence authorises the production of Cyclotetramethylenetetranitramine (HMX) and Trinitrotoluene (TNT) under the Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951, expanding the group’s licensed manufacturing activities in defence and industrial explosives.

The licence permits the manufacture of HMX with an approved capacity of 50 metric tonnes per annum and TNT with an approved capacity of 500 metric tonnes per annum. These capacities define the maximum annual output allowed under the approval and support requirements for high-energy materials used in defence and industrial applications.

Manufacturing under the licence will be undertaken at IDL Explosives’ facility in Odisha. The industrial licence has been granted with a validity period of 15 years from the date of issuance, providing long-term regulatory clearance for operations at the location.

“This represents a significant strategic milestone for Apollo Micro Systems, allowing us to meet the needs of both industrial and defence explosives,” said Karunakar Reddy Baddam, Managing Director of Apollo Micro Systems Limited.

“This license strengthens our ability to meet captive requirements for high-energy defence explosives while creating opportunities to serve growing demand in both domestic and international markets for industrial and defence explosives,” Baddam said.

HMX and TNT are high-energy explosive compounds with applications across defence and industrial sectors. The licence enables domestic manufacturing of these materials within the specified capacity limits, subject to compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. No information has been disclosed regarding the timeline for commencement of commercial production or planned investment associated with the licensed capacities.

IDL Explosives Limited operates as a step-down subsidiary within the Apollo Micro Systems group. The regulatory approval has been disclosed in line with stock exchange reporting requirements applicable to listed companies.
