Larsen & Toubro Limited has secured an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contract from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) for a polyethylene project at Bina in Madhya Pradesh. The order has been awarded to the company’s Hydrocarbon Onshore business and will be executed on a lump sum turnkey basis.
The scope of work includes engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of a Linear Low-Density Polyethylene and High-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE/HDPE) swing unit comprising two production trains of 575 kilotonnes per annum each. The facility will be located at BPCL’s Bina complex in Madhya Pradesh.
The polyethylene swing unit forms part of BPCL’s Bina Petrochemicals and Refinery Expansion Project. The broader project aims to establish a petrochemical complex at the Bina site and increase the refinery’s processing capacity from 7.8 million tonnes per annum to approximately 11 million tonnes per annum.
“This order reinforces L&T’s capabilities in executing downstream hydrocarbon engineering, procurement and construction projects,” said Subramanian Sarma, Deputy Managing Director and President of Larsen & Toubro.
“The order reflects customer confidence in L&T Onshore’s execution and delivery capabilities, and the project will be implemented with a focus on health, safety, environment and quality,” said E S Sathyanarayanan, Senior Vice President and Integrated Capability Head of L&T Energy Hydrocarbon – Onshore.
