Murata Electronics (India) Private Limited, a subsidiary of Japan’s Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., has begun operations at a new facility in the OneHub Chennai Industrial Park, Tamil Nadu. The 3,500-square-metre rental factory will handle packaging and shipping of multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs), the company and local officials said.

The company signed an agreement to lease the factory with a handover in February 2025 and has said it aims to reach full-scale operation in fiscal 2026. Murata characterised the move as a step to gain experience in Indian factory operations and to prepare for possible future manufacturing expansion in the country.

Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa welcomed Murata’s entry and posted about the inauguration on social media, noting the small size of MLCC chips and Murata’s market presence in the product category.

Murata Electronics (India) was established in September 2010 and is headquartered in Chennai. According to company directory filings, the subsidiary’s authorised/paid-up capital is INR 5 million and it reported 90 employees as of 1 October, 2024.
