PMI Engineering Exports Private Limited will invest INR 5 billion to establish a precision aerospace manufacturing facility in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. The project is expected to create 1,000 employment opportunities and will manufacture flight-critical components for civil aviation and defence applications.

The facility will undertake raw material cutting, precision machining, cleaning and finishing processes. Production will use five-axis computer numerical control (CNC) machining with micron-level tolerances and will involve titanium alloys, inconel and nickel-based superalloys.

PMI Engineering Exports Private Limited, incorporated in March 2005, is the Indian manufacturing arm of the US-based PMI Group (Penn Manufacturing Industries). The company operates from the Madras Export Processing Zone Special Economic Zone in Tambaram, Chennai, and serves as an export-focused hub for high-precision manufacturing, assembly and product development.

The company specialises in low-to-medium volume, complex manufacturing capable of holding tight tolerances. Its aerospace and defence portfolio includes flight-critical components, cargo assemblies, fuel injection parts, legacy support systems and landing gear parts for commercial and defence aviation. It also manufactures surgical instrumentation and orthopaedic and spinal implants, components and sub-assemblies for semiconductor wire-bonding assembly machines, and safety-critical industrial components such as trucking brake systems, electronic housings and electrical cabling.

Earlier in September 2025, PMI Global Technologies Private Limited, a sister subsidiary of PMI Engineering Exports operating from the Chennai Special Economic Zone, secured approval for an INR 6.44 billion expansion project at the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) industrial park in Sriperumbudur. The expansion is intended to increase capacity for building complex electro-mechanical sub-systems required by the semiconductor and medical device industries and is expected to create 460 additional jobs.

PMI Global Technologies Private Limited was incorporated in 2014 to handle complex electro-mechanical assembly for the medical and semiconductor industries. For the financial year ended 31 March 2025, PMI Engineering Exports generated an estimated operating revenue of INR 3.14 billion, reflecting a compound annual growth rate of over 25 percent, while PMI Global Technologies reported revenue of around INR 557 million in the financial year 2024.

PMI Global Technologies is a direct subsidiary of PMI Engineering Exports Pvt Ltd, which operates as the Indian subsidiary of the U.S.-based PMI Group (Penn Manufacturing Industries). In June 2023, New York-based private equity firm Tinicum Group acquired the PMI Group for an undisclosed amount. Following the buyout, Tinicum merged the PMI Group with Briles Aerospace and American Drilling in July 2024 to form PennAero. The newly formed conglomerate supplies Western aerospace original equipment manufacturers and global semiconductor firms.
