Eaton Electric India Private Limited has laid the foundation stone for a new 100,000 square foot manufacturing and research facility in Sholinganallur, Chennai. The facility, which represents an investment of Rs 200 crore, is expected to be completed by the end of 2026 and create 500 jobs.
The groundbreaking ceremony was conducted on March 7, 2025, with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa in attendance. The investment follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in September 2024 between Eaton and the Tamil Nadu government during Stalin’s visit to the United States.
The new plant will support the expansion of Eaton’s Crouse-Hinds and B-Line division, focusing on the production of power management equipment. It will include advanced manufacturing floors, research and development labs, an experience centre, and corporate headquarters, strengthening India’s role in Eaton’s global operations.
Eaton Corporation stated that the facility will help enhance its capabilities in digitalization, electrification, and energy transition. The company specializes in power management solutions and supplies components for infrastructure, industrial, and renewable energy sectors.
In a related development, Eaton is showcasing its latest power management technologies at the Automation Expo South 2025 in Chennai from March 6-8. The company is exhibiting CCTV systems, signaling and alarms, industrial lighting, power distribution, and automation solutions designed for hazardous environments. The expo also featured the launch of new products, including the MTL Zone Guardian surge protection devices and explosion-protected PTZ cameras.
Eaton is a Fortune 500 company with operations in over 160 countries. The company reported revenues of nearly $25 billion in 2024 and continues to expand its footprint in India through strategic investments in manufacturing and research.
