Seiko Epson Corporation has announced the inauguration of its first ink tank printer manufacturing facility in India. Located in Chennai, the plant has been established in collaboration with Epson’s manufacturing partner RIKUN and is scheduled to begin operations in October 2025. The facility will initially focus on producing Epson’s EcoTank printers.
The new Epson manufacturing facility, located in the FTWZ industrial zone at Sriperumbudur near Chennai, is designed to produce up to 20,000 printers per month, with a primary focus on EcoTank and Heat-Free inkjet models. Initially, the plant will employ over 200 people, with provisions for future workforce expansion. The facility is aligned with Epson’s Environment Vision 2050, emphasizing sustainability, automation, and the creation of local value.
According to Epson, over 8 million EcoTank printers have been sold in India, contributing to a global cumulative total of more than 100 million units. The company stated that the new Chennai facility marks its first manufacturing investment in the country.
“This is a historic occasion for Epson,” said Junkichi Yoshida, President of Seiko Epson Corporation. “India is crucial to our growth and offers immense opportunity for innovation and leadership, with its fast-growing economy, youthful population, and digital progress.”
