Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal visited Unimech Aerospace Manufacturing Limited at the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) Aerospace Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Devanahalli, Bengaluru. The visit was part of a broader engagement with aerospace manufacturers operating in the SEZ, which has emerged as a key hub for precision engineering and export-oriented manufacturing.
Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Bengaluru, Unimech Aerospace focuses on high-precision engineering for the aerospace, defence, nuclear energy, and semiconductor sectors. The company holds certifications including AS9100 Rev D, ISO 9001, and ISO 45001. It supplies complex tooling, mechanical assemblies, and precision components to international OEMs such as Boeing, Collins Aerospace, and Mitsubishi Power. More than 90% of its revenue comes from exports, primarily to the US and European markets.
In February 2025, Unimech expanded its facility at the Aerospace SEZ by 50 percent, increasing its total manufacturing area to 180,000 sq. ft. The expansion aimed to enhance its capacity for precision manufacturing.
During the visit, Goyal interacted with engineers and representatives from Unimech and other firms operating in the SEZ. He emphasized that India is poised to become a leading supplier for global aerospace and defense companies, thanks to the government’s ongoing diplomatic relations with other countries.
Senior officials from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and the Karnataka government were also present. The visit included reviews of ongoing manufacturing activities and discussions on increasing aerospace exports.
The KIADB Aerospace SEZ hosts a mix of large enterprises and MSMEs involved in the production of sub-assemblies, structural components, machined parts, avionics, and related systems. The SEZ employs approximately 5,000 people and generates around INR 50 billion (USD 600 million) in annual export value, with shipments to markets including the USA, UK, Israel, Australia, France, Germany, and Japan.
Unimech Aerospace is a privately held company supplying high-precision components for global aerospace programs. Its operations span engine and airframe tooling, with a focus on low-volume, high-mix production tailored to OEM requirements.
