The GE Aerospace Foundation has launched its Next Engineers programme in Bengaluru in partnership with United Way Bengaluru. The initiative, announced on 24 September 2025, is expected to reach more than 4,000 students in the city by 2030.
The programme, aimed at strengthening the pipeline of students pursuing engineering, has so far engaged over 26,000 students globally since its start in 2021. The Bengaluru rollout is scheduled to begin in early 2026 and will provide hands-on learning experiences, career exposure, university preparation, and scholarship support for students aged 13 to 18.
The foundation has committed up to USD 20 million over five years to expand the programme worldwide through to 2030. Bengaluru follows Cincinnati, Ohio, and Warsaw, Poland, where the initiative has also been implemented.
“The Next Engineers programme will inspire and prepare thousands of students aged 13 to 18 with hands-on learning experiences, career exposure, and university preparation, equipping them to pursue careers in engineering. With the programme set to begin in early 2026, we aim to reach more than 4,000 students in Bengaluru over the next four years,” stated Alok Nanda, Chief Technology Officer of GE Aerospace India.
GE Aerospace operates in aviation propulsion and systems, with a global presence in research, design, and manufacturing. Its Bengaluru campus is one of two global research centres and supports various initiatives in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education through school partnerships and employee-led volunteering.
