Waterking Dredging Equipment India Private Limited, a subsidiary of Netherlands-based Waterking B.V., has commenced local manufacturing of amphibious excavators in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The facility is the company’s first production site outside Europe and was established to serve growing demand from Asia and Africa.

The Indian plant can now produce the WK 220 NG-5I model, a 22-tonne amphibious excavator identical in design and specifications to those built in the Netherlands. The model was completed and presented in January 2025, following several months of technical collaboration between Waterking’s engineers in Tynaarlo and the Indian team.

“Over the past years we have seen a growing demand for our amphibious excavators from Asia and Africa. To serve these regions better and to reduce CO₂ emissions caused by long transport distances, we have established a new production location in Bengaluru, India,” said Jakob Knoop, Founder and Owner of Waterking B.V. “Finding the right partner took several years, but it was worth the effort. Our Indian partner shares our standards for quality and craftsmanship and has built an excellent reputation.”

Waterking stated that the India-made WK 220 NG-5I was built with full technical oversight from its Dutch headquarters to maintain consistent quality. The first excavator is currently on display for demonstration purposes at Hitachi in Dubai.

The Bengaluru facility will cater primarily to customers in Asia, Africa, and South America, enabling shorter delivery times and lowering logistics-related emissions.

Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Tynaarlo, the Netherlands, Waterking B.V. designs and manufactures amphibious excavators, pontoons, and related dredging equipment used in infrastructure, mining, and environmental restoration projects worldwide.
