Kirloskar Group, one of India’s oldest engineering conglomerates, has announced a new initiative titled “Made in Kirloskar” aimed at highlighting the role of engineering in industry and society. The initiative includes the launch of a film that traces the evolution of engineering innovation and its influence on modern development.

The programme is intended to evolve into multiple activities over the coming year in collaboration with industry, government bodies and the local ecosystem in Pune. The effort is positioned as a platform to recognise the contribution of engineers and engineering-driven manufacturing.

“Our founder believed that thinking has meaning only when it leads to making. That belief has guided us for over 135 years,” said Atul Kirloskar, Chairman of Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd and Kirloskar Industries Ltd. “Engineers remain at the core of this journey, turning imagination into reality.”

“At Kirloskar, we have emphasised homegrown innovation—creating products that continue to power the nation,” said Rahul Kirloskar, Chairman of Kirloskar Pneumatic Company Ltd and Kirloskar Ferrous Industries Ltd. He added that the film is intended as a tribute to engineers involved in the group’s development.

The group stated that since 1888, its companies have produced equipment including the iron plough, centrifugal pump, diesel engine, lathe, electric motor and air compressors. The press release noted that these milestones contributed to the expansion of Pune as a manufacturing centre with a concentration of automobile firms, ancillary units and heavy engineering activity.

Kirloskar Group said the new initiative is aligned with its objective to strengthen its global presence while maintaining a focus on engineering-driven manufacturing.

Kirloskar Group comprises multiple companies operating in sectors such as engines, pumps, compressors, industrial machinery and ferrous castings.
