Atmastco Limited said it has entered into a 15-year technology collaboration agreement with Welding Technologies LLC, a company registered in Russia, to establish special welding technology in India. The agreement is aimed at enhancing the company’s technological capabilities in the welding segment, particularly for complex fabrication requirements.

The collaboration comes as Atmastco continues to expand its presence beyond its core heavy engineering and fabrication business. In July 2020, the company incorporated a wholly owned subsidiary, Atmastco Defence Systems Private Limited, to enter defence manufacturing. The subsidiary focuses on the production of personal protective equipment, including bulletproof jackets, ballistic helmets, tactical vests, and full-body protectors.

Atmastco has stated that its defence manufacturing activities are supported by strategic partnerships and technology recognised by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The company holds technology transfer arrangements with DRDO laboratories, including the Defence Materials and Stores Research and Development Establishment (DMSRDE), Kanpur, and the Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS), Delhi, for the domestic manufacture of personal protection gear.

In October 2025, Atmastco announced the commencement of trial production at its dedicated defence manufacturing facility in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. The company has since participated in government tenders and has supplied personal protection equipment to units of the Indian Army and the Indian Navy.

Russian welding tech is globally renowned for working with difficult alloys (titanium, high-strength steel) used in submarines, tanks, and nuclear reactors.

With respect to the Russian technology partner, trade and corporate records identify Welding Technologies LLC as OOO Svarochnye Tekhnologii, an industrial welding technology company based in St. Petersburg, Russia. The firm is engaged in specialised welding solutions for heavy industrial applications and is understood to focus on advanced metallurgical welding processes.

The technology collaboration is positioned to support Atmastco’s broader manufacturing capabilities, particularly in areas where high-strength steels and complex fabrication processes are required. The company has not specified the end-use applications of the welding technology or whether it will be deployed for defence, infrastructure, or other industrial segments.
