Sambhv Steel Tubes Limited plans to increase its finished product capacity to 1.7 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) over the next four to five years through a phased expansion across its facilities in Chhattisgarh. The capacity enhancement is aimed at meeting the rising domestic demand for steel pipes, tubes, and stainless steel products.

The company’s expansion will add 1.2 MTPA of new capacity through greenfield projects at Kesda, Baloda Bazar, and Kuthrel (Unit II) in Raipur. The first phase will include a 0.36 MTPA stainless steel coil manufacturing facility, targeted for commissioning by the end of the financial year 2026–27. The project also includes plans for a 25 megawatt (MW) captive power plant to improve cost efficiency and reduce dependence on external power sources.

Sambhv currently operates an integrated steel and pipe manufacturing facility at Sarora near Raipur and a value-added products unit at Kuthrel, both strategically located near major iron ore and coal reserves. The facilities have a combined finished product capacity of 0.51 MTPA and are supported by a 25 MW captive power plant using waste heat recovery and atmospheric fluidised bed combustion technologies.

During the first half of FY2025–26, total production stood at 640,587 tonnes, while sales reached 191,474 tonnes. Revenue rose 76 percent year-on-year to INR 11,388 million, with EBITDA increasing 94 percent to INR 1,330 million and profit after tax up 109 percent to INR 634 million. The company reported a return on capital employed of 18 percent and a debt-to-EBITDA ratio of 0.82 times.

Sambhv’s products cater to original equipment manufacturers and industries such as construction, infrastructure, irrigation, power, and telecommunications. The company’s distribution network covers 15 states and one union territory through 43 distributors and more than 700 dealers. It has also received product approvals from 11 government bodies, including Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), and Madhya Pradesh Jal Nigam.

The company intends to further strengthen its distribution network in southern and western India, particularly in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, and Maharashtra, and is exploring opportunities to supply electric resistance welded (ERW) pipes and tubes to export markets. Its product diversification strategy includes developing value-added offerings such as stainless steel cold rolled coils, galvanised coils, and pre-galvanised pipes to meet the needs of emerging end-use sectors.

As of 31 March 2025, Sambhv’s installed capacities were: sponge iron – 280,000 tonnes per annum; mild steel blooms and slabs – 300,000 tonnes; stainless steel blooms and slabs – 60,000 tonnes; mild steel hot rolled coils – 390,000 tonnes; stainless steel hot rolled coils – 60,000 tonnes; ERW and galvanised pipes – 350,000 tonnes; cold rolled mild steel coils – 100,000 tonnes; cold rolled stainless steel coils – 58,000 tonnes; and pre-galvanised pipes – 100,000 tonnes. The company’s total installed capacity for finished and intermediate products stood at approximately 1.7 million tonnes per annum, supported by 25 MW of captive power generation.

Sambhv Steel Tubes Limited, headquartered in Raipur, manufactures steel pipes, tubes, and coils, operating an integrated production line from sponge iron to finished pipes.
