River Mobility Private Limited rolled out the Yamaha EC-06 electric scooter at its manufacturing facility in Hoskote, Karnataka, marking the first production outcome of its collaboration with Yamaha. The rollout positions the Hoskote plant as a contract manufacturing base for Yamaha’s first global electric scooter programme and adds to Karnataka’s growing electric mobility manufacturing footprint.

The EC-06 is the first product to emerge from a strategic co-creation partnership with Yamaha, combining Yamaha’s product design and performance requirements with River’s local engineering, battery integration, and manufacturing execution. The scooter is manufactured at River’s Hoskote facility to meet Yamaha’s global quality standards.

The partnership was formalised in January 2024, when Yamaha Motor Co. led a USD 40 million Series B funding round in River, equivalent to approximately INR 3.35 billion. Beyond capital, the investment expanded into a technical collaboration covering product development, manufacturing processes, and platform sharing. Under this arrangement, Yamaha has entrusted River with the manufacturing of its first high-performance global electric scooter, internally codenamed RY01 and marketed as EC-06 in select markets.

The Yamaha EC-06 was launched in November 2025 as the first commercial result of the collaboration. While Yamaha retained responsibility for the product’s core design and brand DNA, River handled execution, engineering, and battery system integration from its Bengaluru operations. Yamaha is also leveraging River’s “Indie” scooter platform to accelerate its electric vehicle entry in India, reducing the need to establish a new local supply chain.

River’s manufacturing operations are centred at its Hoskote facility in Bengaluru Rural district, supported by a 40,000 square foot research and development centre in Whitefield. As of December 2025, the Hoskote plant had produced 20,000 units of the Indie electric scooter. The facility operates semi-automatic assembly lines designed for scalable production and aligned with Yamaha’s global manufacturing benchmarks.

The company’s workforce has expanded to more than 900 employees, compared with about 300 a year earlier, with a significant share deployed at the Hoskote manufacturing unit. River reported revenue of approximately INR 1.04 billion for the financial year ended March 2025, reflecting rapid growth alongside increased production volumes.

River Mobility Private Limited is a Bengaluru-based electric vehicle manufacturer focused on the design, engineering, and production of electric scooters, with in-house capabilities spanning product development, battery integration, and manufacturing.
