Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited will establish a 10 gigawatt ingot and wafer manufacturing facility in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, with an investment of INR 66.75 billion. The greenfield project will be developed at the IFFCO Kisan Special Economic Zone, where the State government has earmarked 200 acres for the facility.

The manufacturing unit will produce ingots and wafers that are used as inputs for solar cells, solar modules, and semiconductor applications. The State has allocated 120 acres for the initial phase of the project, with an additional 80 acres reserved for future expansion.

The project includes the development of a 200 megawatt captive green power plant to supply renewable electricity to the manufacturing facility. The captive power unit is intended to support the company’s clean energy sourcing requirements for the plant’s operations.

The Nellore investment comes as Tata Power’s solar manufacturing arm reports higher output levels. TP Solar Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy, manufactured 2.8 gigawatts of domestically sourced solar cells and 2.9 gigawatts of solar modules during the nine-month period from April 2025 to December 2025. Of the total module output, 2.4 gigawatts were domestically sourced content modules, while 0.5 gigawatts were modules approved under the approved list of models and manufacturers framework.

In the third quarter of FY26, TP Solar’s cell production rose to 940 megawatts, compared with 196 megawatts in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Module production during the quarter stood at 990 megawatts, up from 927 megawatts in the same period last year.

TP Solar operates a 4.3 gigawatt integrated solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. Tata Power Renewable Energy has invested nearly INR 43 billion in setting up this plant, which is equipped with TOPCon and mono PERC technologies and manufactures domestically sourced content and approved list-certified solar modules.

Tata Power Company Limited is an integrated power company with a diversified installed capacity of 15.9 gigawatts across renewable and conventional generation, transmission, distribution, trading, storage solutions, and solar manufacturing. The company has 7.0 gigawatts of clean energy capacity and has set a target to achieve net zero emissions by 2045.
