HORIBA India Private Limited has acquired 100 percent of the shares of Pristine Deeptech Private Limited, an India-based research and development company working on lab-grown diamond technologies for semiconductor and quantum research applications. The acquisition was completed on 14 January 2026 and results in Pristine Deeptech becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of the HORIBA Group.

The transaction is intended to establish an advanced materials metrology research and development capability in India, focused on analytical and measurement solutions. The company said the acquisition supports its plans to develop new products and address emerging development and manufacturing requirements linked to advanced materials.

Pristine Deeptech Private Limited, formerly known as Pristine Diamonds Private Limited, was established in October 2021 and is headquartered in Gujarat. The company is engaged in research and development related to the utilisation of lab-grown diamond as a material for semiconductor and quantum research fields. As of 14 January 2026, Pristine Deeptech employed seven people. HORIBA said it has maintained a business relationship with the company since 2023.

Diamond is being studied as an advanced material due to properties such as high thermal conductivity and high dielectric strength. HORIBA said these characteristics support potential applications in areas including next-generation power semiconductors, quantum sensors, communications technologies, electric vehicles, data centres, and aerospace and defence systems. The company noted that the use of lab-grown diamond as a functional material is expected to expand over the next decade.

Quantum sensor technology measures physical quantities such as electric current, magnetic fields, and temperature by applying quantum mechanics. Compared with conventional sensors, it can be smaller while providing highly sensitive measurement.

The HORIBA Group said the acquisition is aligned with its long-term approach of proactive investment in research and development. Since the 1990s, the group has established R&D structures in regions including France, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Within this framework, India has been identified as a potential future hub for innovation, supported by the country’s expanding and diversifying industrial base.

HORIBA stated that combining Pristine Deeptech’s expertise in diamond research and vacuum technology with its own analytical and measurement technologies, including Raman spectroscopy, is expected to enable the development of new solutions across the semiconductor woven value chain (value chain in which semiconductor production processes, advanced materials, sub-fab, and facilities are interconnected) . The company said these solutions are intended to support the progression from laboratory research to manufacturing, including applications involving diamond wafers.

In addition, HORIBA plans to work on the development of diamond-based components such as sensors, with an objective of commercialisation. The company said these components may be integrated into HORIBA products or offered as standalone products, depending on application requirements.

HORIBA India Private Limited was established in 2006 and is headquartered in New Delhi. As of the end of December 2025, the company employed 550 people and is engaged in the sales, service, and manufacturing of analytical equipment for the energy and environment, bio and healthcare, and materials and semiconductor sectors.
