Ram Krishna Forgings Limited (RKFL) plans to increase its steel casting capacity from 60,000 tonnes per annum to 120,000 tonnes by 2025 according to a report by Autocar Professional. The expansion will utilize the company’s existing infrastructure, which includes 16 plants in Jharkhand.

RKFL, founded in 1981, supplies forged and machined components to industries such as automotive, railways, farm equipment, oil and gas, and power. The company has expanded its product portfolio from 35 categories in 2019 to 69 in 2024 and added nearly 100 customers across 22 geographies. Automotive components currently account for approximately 70 percent of its revenue.

Exports make up 60 percent of RKFL’s turnover, with North America being a key market. The company supplies to global clients, including Volvo, Mack Trucks, Iveco, DAF, Scania, MAN, UD Trucks, and Ford Otosan. It recently secured a contract with a US-based electric vehicle manufacturer.

The company has implemented process improvements to reduce material waste, including adopting German forging technology in 2007 to improve raw material yield from 60 percent to 90-95 percent. RKFL also operates a ring rolling facility for steel wheels as part of its sustainability efforts.
