Automotive Test Systems (ATS) has commissioned a high-capacity electric motor test bed for heavy-duty vehicle applications at its facility in Bengaluru. The test bed is rated at 458 kW of power and 2,900 Nm of nominal torque and has been fully operational since June 2025.

The installation is designed to support electric motors used in heavy commercial vehicles such as trucks and buses. According to the company, the test bed enables simulation of real-world operating conditions for large electric drivetrains, enhancing testing capabilities beyond standard infrastructure used for passenger or light commercial vehicles.

ATS stated that the test bed aims to improve testing throughput and reduce turnaround times, enabling more efficient handling of client and internal R&D projects.

The company added that such high-capacity test infrastructure remains limited in India and that the facility may support collaborations with motor manufacturers, OEMs, and research institutions working on advanced electric drivetrain technologies.

ATS credited its Bengaluru team for completing the commissioning on schedule. It plans to expand R&D activities in the heavy-duty EV segment and explore future partnerships with commercial vehicle manufacturers.
