ChargePoint, a provider of networked electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, has partnered with HCLTech to develop EV charging software. The collaboration includes the establishment of a research and development center in Bengaluru, India, which will serve as a hub for ChargePoint’s software development activities in the country.
The new facility aims to leverage HCLTech’s engineering resources and product-focused operating model to enhance ChargePoint’s ability to deliver scalable and customizable EV charging solutions. Leadership from both companies attended the inauguration event.
ChargePoint CEO Rick Wilmer stated that the company plans to recruit talent in India to support product development efforts. Ajay Bahl, Chief Growth Officer, Americas, Manufacturing and Allied Industries at HCLTech, said the company’s engineering capabilities would contribute to ChargePoint’s innovation strategy.
HCLTech operates in 60 countries with a workforce of over 220,000 employees. The company reported consolidated revenues of $13.8 billion for the 12 months ending December 2024. ChargePoint, founded in 2007, provides a cloud-based subscription platform and software-defined charging hardware, offering solutions for various sectors including residential, workplace, and fleet charging.
