Visteon Corporation, an automotive technology company, has launched the SCHOLAR programme under Visteon University, which is being introduced across 26 engineering colleges in India. The initiative, announced on 23 September, is designed for students in their fifth semesters and aims to address industry skill requirements in automotive software.

According to the company, the programme has already engaged over 4,200 students and received more than 2,500 registrations. SCHOLAR is structured around early engagement, skill development, simulation projects, and mentorship, with a focus on Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

“While India has the largest number of engineering colleges in the world, there is immense scope for the curriculum to be ahead of the innovation curve in line with the dynamic needs of the automotive industry. This presents us with an opportunity to bridge the readiness gap between classrooms and boardrooms. We’re excited with the prospects SCHOLAR brings in this regard,” said Sivakumar Songappan, Vice President, Software Development Program Delivery, Visteon.

“Learning today must go beyond classrooms, and this change needs to happen with a constructive urgency. Through the Visteon SCHOLAR program, we are committed to democratizing access to cutting-edge learning programs, fast-tracking the pace of absorption, and deepening the relevance to real-world challenges. While colleges will continue strengthening foundations, we aim to provide mentorship and context to make India’s engineering talent future-ready for the automotive industry. We’re set to take this program far and wide within the country,” said Rahul Singh, Vice President, Software Engineering, Infotainment & Cockpit Software, Visteon.

Visteon Corporation, headquartered in Van Buren Township, Michigan, is an automotive technology company specialising in cockpit electronics and connected vehicle solutions. The company is listed on NASDAQ under the ticker VC.
