Allison Transmission has announced a $100 million (Rs 833 crore) investment to expand its manufacturing facility in Chennai, India. The multi-year project will add 200,000 square feet to the facility, doubling its current production footprint. The expansion is scheduled to complete in 2025, with full operational capacity expected by 2027.
The increased capacity will support Allison’s fully automated transmission products for on-highway applications, allowing for greater production flexibility and responsiveness to global demand.
The Indianapolis-based company, founded in 1915, operates in over 150 countries. In addition to its facilities in India, Allison Transmission has engineering resources in the U.S., UK, and regional headquarters in the Netherlands, China, and Brazil, along with manufacturing operations in the USA and Hungary.
