Craftsman Automation Limited formally inaugurated its new aluminium casting facility at Hosur, Tamil Nadu, on 19 December 2025, marking a capacity expansion in its Automotive – Aluminium Products segment. The plant, located at SIPCOT Industrial Park in Shoolagiri, commenced commercial operations earlier on 16 October 2025 and is already contributing to production volumes.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the Hosur site in the presence of K. N. Radhakrishnan, Director and Chief Executive Officer of TVS Motor Company. The new facility strengthens the company’s aluminium casting capabilities to support automotive and industrial customers.

The Hosur plant is dedicated to aluminium die casting and is intended to manufacture lightweight components for two-wheelers, passenger vehicles, and electric vehicles. The product mix includes crankcases, cylinder blocks, and cylinder heads for two-wheelers, structural and transmission-related parts for passenger vehicles, and battery housings and motor casings for electric vehicle applications.

The facility is expected to increase Craftsman Automation’s overall aluminium production capacity by approximately 15 percent. Prior to the commissioning of this unit, the company’s existing aluminium foundries in southern India were operating at close to 75 percent utilisation, and the additional capacity is aimed at easing constraints as customer demand rises.

The project involved an investment of approximately INR 1.5 billion, funded largely through term loans, which accounted for about 90 percent of the total cost, with the remainder financed through internal accruals. The plant has been designed with provisions for future expansion, allowing additional die-casting capacity to be added as volumes grow, particularly for electric vehicle programmes.

Located within the Hosur–Bengaluru automotive corridor, the Shoolagiri site provides proximity to several automotive manufacturers, enabling shorter logistics cycles and support for just-in-time supply requirements.
