Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd has commenced local manufacturing of motherboards in India through a contract manufacturing partnership, expanding its production footprint in the country. The move aligns with India’s broader push to increase domestic electronics manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports.

According to a press release issued by Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd, the initial phase of localisation focuses on motherboard manufacturing, with plans to extend local production to monitors and laptops at a later stage. The company said the initiative forms part of its long-term strategy for the Indian market, which it considers an important component of its global operations.

Gigabyte currently sells a range of motherboards, graphics cards, and personal computer hardware in India. By shifting part of its manufacturing to the domestic market, the company aims to improve supply-chain efficiency, shorten delivery timelines, and enhance product availability for customers. Local manufacturing is also expected to support pricing stability by lowering logistics and import-related costs.

The company stated that motherboard production has been prioritised as the first locally manufactured product category due to sustained demand across consumer and enterprise segments. The proposed localisation of monitors and laptops would broaden the scope of domestic assembly and expand Gigabyte’s portfolio manufactured in India.

“India has always been one of our most important markets,” said Dandy Yeh, Chairman of Gigabyte Technology. He added that the start of local manufacturing reflects the company’s intention to strengthen its engagement with the domestic technology ecosystem.

Eddie Lin, Chief Executive Officer of Gigabyte Technology, said the company would maintain the same component selection and manufacturing standards used in its global operations. He noted that local production could also support opportunities in enterprise, government, and public-sector procurement by enabling more responsive supply chains.

Gigabyte said domestic manufacturing would contribute to a more streamlined operating model, including faster servicing and after-sales support. The company also indicated that producing hardware locally could help reduce the environmental impact associated with long-distance shipping of finished products.

Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd is a Taiwan-headquartered manufacturer of computer hardware, including motherboards, graphics cards, monitors, storage products, and related peripherals. The company has also expanded into servers and data centre solutions, supplying products to commercial and institutional customers across multiple regions.
