Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited announced the launch of a new inland container depot (ICD) at Malur, near Bengaluru, aimed at strengthening rail-linked cargo movement and hinterland connectivity in southern India. The facility was inaugurated in the presence of more than 250 customers and logistics partners, marking the company’s latest addition to its inland logistics network.

The Malur ICD is located along the Bengaluru–Chennai railway main line near Malur station and includes a dedicated rail siding. It also has direct road connectivity through National Expressway 7 (NE7) and National Highway 44, enabling multimodal access for containerised cargo. The location places the facility close to Bengaluru and within reach of industrial clusters across Karnataka, as well as neighbouring Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Ashwani Gupta, Whole-time Director and Chief Executive Officer of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited, stated that the ICD is designed to provide seamless connectivity between manufacturing centres and major ports. The facility is connected to several ports on both the east and west coasts, including Adani Kattupalli, Ennore, Vizhinjam, Chennai, and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), supporting import and export cargo flows from southern India.

The ICD is spread across 30 acres, with an additional 21 acres earmarked for future expansion. It is equipped with terminal operating systems (TOS) and gate operating systems (GOS), along with real-time control tower capabilities. The infrastructure also includes warehousing facilities and on-site customs clearance, intended to reduce dwell times and improve supply chain efficiency for exporters and importers.

The Malur facility is positioned to serve automotive, engineering, electronics, textiles, and other manufacturing sectors concentrated around Bengaluru and surrounding industrial regions. Its proximity to state borders is expected to support cross-regional cargo aggregation and distribution.

With the commissioning of ICD Malur, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited said it is extending its end-to-end logistics offering from port operations to inland cargo handling. The company stated that its logistics network spans approximately 11,000 km of coastline and covers around 95 percent of the country’s hinterland through a combination of ports, terminals, and inland logistics assets.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited is India’s largest integrated ports and logistics company, operating a network of ports, terminals, and logistics infrastructure across the country.
