JTEKT Corporation, headquartered in Kariya City, Japan, has announced plans to construct a new automotive parts manufacturing plant in Gujarat, India, through its local subsidiary, JTEKT India Limited. The new facility will be the eighth JTEKT plant in the country, with operations expected to commence in 2027.
The new factory, located in Jalisana, Ahmedabad district, represents an investment of 2.5 billion INR (approximately 3.5 billion yen). It will cover a total site area of 118,484 square meters, with a factory building area of 24,900 square meters. Once operational, the plant is expected to employ around 600 people.
The production at the facility will focus on key automotive components, including column-type electric power steering (C-EPS), manual steering gear (MSG), constant velocity joints (CVJ), and hub unit bearings (HUB).
This expansion is part of JTEKT’s broader strategy to strengthen its global operations under its second medium-term management plan, which spans from 2024 to 2027. The move aims to tap into the growth of the Indian automotive market and align resources to meet increasing demand for auto parts in the region.
JTEKT India Limited, established in 1984, currently operates seven locations across India, including its head office and factories in Gurgaon, Dharuhera, Chennai, and Bawal. The company employs over 3,450 people in its existing operations.
The construction of the Gujarat plant marks another significant step in the company’s ongoing efforts to expand its footprint in India.
