The 21st session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-M&MTC) was held in Moscow on December 10, 2024. The meeting was co-chaired by India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and his Russian counterpart, Andrey Belousov.
Discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in defence production, with particular emphasis on the operationalization of the Military Technical Cooperation agreement for 2021–2031. According to Belousov, the agreement is expected to bolster India’s domestic defence manufacturing capabilities under the “Make in India” initiative.
India proposed new opportunities for Russian industries to participate in collaborative defence projects within the framework of the initiative. Singh reiterated India’s focus on strengthening its defence industry and invited Belousov to visit India for the 22nd session of the commission in 2025, an invitation that was accepted.
The two sides signed a protocol at the conclusion of the session, outlining ongoing and future areas of cooperation.
