The Netherlands is exploring opportunities to source defence equipment from India as part of its procurement strategy for Europe. On March 18, 2025, Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans met with Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi to discuss potential areas of collaboration, including shipbuilding, equipment manufacturing, and space technologies.
Both ministers examined ways to integrate capabilities in artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies within the defence sector. The discussions also covered strengthening connections between defence technology research institutes from both countries.
Brekelmans emphasized the potential for synergy in dual-use technologies such as drones and semiconductors, noting that combining Dutch technological expertise with India’s production scale could enhance defence capabilities.
The meeting aligns with broader efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation in defence and security, focusing on information exchange and developments in the Indo-Pacific region.
