The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi inaugurated the S N Bose Building at the Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership (GCNEP) in New Delhi. The facility is intended to enhance research and training in nuclear science and technology.
The new building, named after physicist Satyendra Nath Bose, will support research in reactor technology, nuclear security, radiation safety, and radioisotope applications. It will house specialized laboratories catering to GCNEP’s nuclear training programs.
During the event, a six-month Certificate Course on Nuclear Engineering was introduced. The program will cover reactor physics, nuclear fuel cycles, radiological safety, and nuclear safeguards. It is designed for international and national participants, with each batch accommodating 40 international and 10 Indian trainees.
Representatives from GCNEP partner countries discussed international collaboration on reactor technology, workforce development, and nuclear safeguards. Officials from the Ministry of External Affairs and the Department of Atomic Energy attended the event.
The GCNEP continues to facilitate training and research in nuclear energy, with a focus on international cooperation and technical development.
