Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. announced the upgradation of Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Deogiri in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, on 5 March 2026 under its memorandum of understanding with the Government of Maharashtra to strengthen the state’s Industrial Training Institute ecosystem. The initiative forms part of a plan to support the development of 45 ITIs across 36 districts of Maharashtra by 2030.

The company has also supported the upgradation of 16 government ITIs across the Marathwada and Nagpur divisions. The initiative aims to equip rural youth with technical training aligned with the automotive and manufacturing sectors.

The programme is structured around three areas: faculty development, infrastructure and equipment upgrades, and institutional culture practices. Faculty development includes Train-the-Trainer programmes, knowledge enhancement sessions and skill-building workshops conducted at Toyota’s Bidadi facility.

Infrastructure support includes the provision of industry-relevant tools and training materials such as Fundamental Skill Training kits, dexterity modules and visual learning boards, along with upgrades to workshops and laboratories. The initiative also introduces practices including 5S methodology, environmental awareness and safety protocols, supported by periodic audits, feedback mechanisms and stakeholder engagement.

The programme is being implemented in three phases. Phase one, completed during the 2025–26 period, covered 17 ITIs across the Marathwada and Nagpur divisions. Phase two, scheduled for 2026–28, will expand the programme to institutes in the Amravati and Nashik divisions, while phase three from 2029–30 will include institutes in the Mumbai and Pune divisions.

Under the partnership, Government ITI Deogiri has been developed as a demonstration model for implementing a structured and scalable skilling framework across the state. From the current academic year, the institute will offer both manufacturing and automotive service skill training programmes.

“Our youth are the foundation of Maharashtra’s future and by nurturing their skills and aspirations, we are building a self-reliant society.
