Cochin Shipyard has signed a land lease agreement with the Cochin Port Authority to establish a new shipbuilding facility. The project will be developed in collaboration with a foreign partner.

The expansion will increase Cochin Shipyard’s capacity for shipbuilding and repairs. It will add to the company’s existing ₹1,799 crore dry dock and support the construction of LNG carriers, Suezmax vessels, oil rigs, and semi-submersibles.

This development follows the launch of a ₹970 crore international ship repair facility at Willingdon Island. The new facility is expected to contribute to shipbuilding infrastructure at Cochin Port.
