Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has signed a contract worth INR 24.63 billion with the Ministry of Defence for the supply and services of Ashwini Radars. The radars are fully indigenous, developed jointly by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and BEL.
Ashwini Radars are Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) systems with integrated Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) capabilities and electronic scanning in azimuth and elevation. They are designed for four-dimensional (4D) surveillance, can be deployed across various terrains, and have advanced Electronic Counter-Countermeasure (ECCM) features. The system is capable of automatically detecting and tracking aerial targets, including fighter aircraft and slow-moving objects.
With this contract, BEL’s total order book for the current financial year has reached INR 170.30 billion.
