Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) has relocated its Kakinada site office to a new facility aimed at improving operational capacity in the region. The move is intended to support offshore and maritime operations along India’s East Coast, particularly near the Krishna-Godavari (KG) basin.

The KG basin hosts a range of oil and gas exploration and production activities, and the new office location is positioned to facilitate support for these industries. According to IRS, the upgraded facility is intended to enable more efficient service delivery to clients, including private vessel owners, shipyards, and entities from the defence and oil & gas sectors.

The new office was inaugurated in the presence of stakeholders from maritime and offshore sectors. Saikat Roychowdhury, Head of Operations, said, “The relocation of our Kakinada office reflects IRS’s commitment to strengthening regional engagement and supporting the maritime and offshore ecosystem in this part of the country. The upgraded facility is better equipped to serve our clients with enhanced efficiency and responsiveness, aligning with our long-term vision for service excellence and industry collaboration.”
