Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd has appointed Capt Jagmohan as its new Chairman and Managing Director. His tenure will run until September 30, 2029, or until further orders. This appointment follows approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet based on a proposal from the Department of Defence Production.

The company had been without a full-time CMD since January 31, 2023, after Vice Admiral Narayan Prasad retired. Since then, the role had been held on an interim basis—first by Sanjeev Singhal, Director (Finance), until his retirement in February 2025, followed by Biju George, Director (Shipbuilding).

Prior to this appointment, Capt Jagmohan served as Director (Corporate Planning, Projects and Business Development) at Goa Shipyard Ltd, a defence shipbuilder under the Ministry of Defence. His earlier roles include Chief General Manager (Design) at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd and Director Naval Design at the Directorate of Naval Design, Indian Navy.

He holds an engineering degree in naval architecture and shipbuilding from Cochin University of Science and Technology and completed his master’s thesis on “Effect of Welding on Corrosion” at RWTH Aachen University in Germany.

According to his professional profile, Capt Jagmohan is “skilled in Finite Element Analysis, Naval Architecture, Military Maintenance, Warship Acquisition and Design.”
