Hitachi India Pvt. Ltd. has announced the appointment of N Venu as its Managing Director, effective June 2, 2025. Venu will continue in his current roles as Managing Director & CEO of Hitachi Energy India Limited and Region Head of South Asia at Hitachi Energy.

The appointment follows the elevation of Bharat Kaushal to the role of Executive Chairman of Hitachi India, effective April 1, 2025. According to the company, Venu will lead efforts to coordinate across 28 Hitachi group companies in India under the “Inspire 2027” management plan and focus on expanding the group’s digital-centric operations, including the Lumada business.

Hitachi’s operations in India span sectors such as rail, digital systems, industrial connectivity, energy, financial inclusion, e-education, and healthcare. The group aims to establish strategic partnerships to support the development of a delivery-layer framework and to monetize connected community platforms.

Venu has nearly 40 years of work experience and has led Hitachi Energy India since its formation in 2019. He previously served as Chairman of the Karnataka chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry for 2024–25. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from NIT Warangal and has completed programs at IIM Ahmedabad, the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, and IMD Switzerland.

Hitachi has been present in India since the 1930s and currently operates through approximately 28 group companies. As of the end of Q1 FY2024, Hitachi employed 39,322 people in India. The company operates in multiple sectors including energy, mobility, digital systems, and industrial solutions.
