Royal IHC, a Netherlands-based shipbuilding company, has opened a new office in Navi Mumbai to support its vessel production activities in India. The new facility is expected to expand the company’s manufacturing capabilities in the country and support its ongoing engineering and shipbuilding operations.

The company operates a production facility in Taloja Navi Mumbai, opened in 2023, which enhances local support through repairs, inspections, and parts delivery. According to the company, the Navi Mumbai office will serve as a base for engineering teams involved in the production of new vessels. The move is part of Royal IHC’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in India’s maritime manufacturing sector.

“Strong connections between our Royal IHC office in Kinderdijk and Regional Office in Mumbai are crucial. With the additional space and new team members joining us, we continue to optimize the incredible potential that both countries have to offer,” stated Daan Koetje, General Manager India of Royal IHC.

Royal IHC’s key activities in India include supplying a range of standardized and custom-built dredging vessels such as trailing suction hopper dredgers and cutter suction dredgers, along with integrated dredging equipment and operational support services. The company has a longstanding relationship with India, having sold its first dredger to the country in 1926, and maintains close ties with major stakeholders such as Adani Group and Cochin Shipyard Limited.

“This milestone reflects a strong and growing partnership and I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to all the engineers, workers, at Royal IHC India office and other stakeholders involved in realizing this bilateral partnership between our two countries,” said Nabil Taouati, Consul General of the Netherlands, during the inauguration on 9 May 2025.

Royal IHC is a Dutch company that designs and builds vessels and advanced equipment for the dredging, offshore, and mining industries. The company also provides lifecycle support and engineering services for its clients globally.

The company is supporting the construction of advanced dredgers for the Dredging Corporation of India, including the 12,000 m³ DCI Dredge Godavari, and has participated in pilot projects focused on sediment reuse. In addition, Royal IHC is advising Indian firms on deep-sea mineral exploration by sharing technical expertise and assessing project feasibility.
