The eighth and final Missile Cum Ammunition (MCA) Barge, LSAM 11 (Yard 79), was delivered to the Indian Navy on March 7, 2025, at the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai. The vessel was constructed by SECON Engineering Projects Pvt Ltd, a Visakhapatnam-based shipyard, under a contract signed on February 19, 2021.
The MCA Barges were designed in collaboration with an Indian ship design firm and underwent model testing at the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), Visakhapatnam. They have been built in compliance with the Indian Register of Shipping’s (IRS) naval regulations.
With the delivery of LSAM 11, all eight contracted barges have now been supplied. The previous seven barges are already in service, supporting naval operations by facilitating the transportation, embarkation, and disembarkation of ammunition and other materials at jetties and outer harbors.
