MAN Energy Solutions and Anglo-Eastern have established a new training facility in Mumbai focused on ME-GI (Gas Injection) engines. The facility, located at the Anglo-Eastern Maritime Training Centre (AEMTC), was launched on 19 February 2025 and is designed to support training on Mk 2 ME-GI dual-fuel engines. It aims to provide technical training on maintenance procedures and safe engine operations for crew members and technical personnel involved in maritime operations.
The ME-GI engine is a dual-fuel propulsion system capable of operating on both heavy fuel oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG). This engine type has gained attention in the maritime sector as part of the industry’s shift towards lower-emission technologies and alternative fuels.
The Mumbai facility expands the existing MAN PrimeServ Academy offerings at AEMTC, which has conducted various engine training courses since 2003 under a cooperation agreement between Anglo-Eastern and MAN Energy Solutions.
Francis Akkara, Principal and Director of AEMTC Mumbai, stated, “Alongside the series of MAN PrimeServ Academy approved courses offered at our training centre, the 5-day course will support the training and upskilling of qualified crew members, and subsequently benefit ship owners, ship managers, and other maritime stakeholders across the region and beyond.”
The facility was inaugurated by Michael Petersen, Senior Vice President of MAN Energy Solutions, and Carsten Ostenfeldt, Chief Operating Officer of Anglo-Eastern, during the 2025 edition of the Anglo-Eastern Mumbai Conference.
As part of their continued collaboration, Anglo-Eastern’s technical team also visited MAN Energy Solutions’ facility in Singapore in February 2025. The visit included discussions on techniques for engine part reconditioning and processes related to classification society approvals.
In addition to the training center expansion, Anglo-Eastern has opened a new office space for its India Shared Services Centre (ISSC) in Mumbai. The ISSC, which began operations in 2023, supports the company’s global ship management functions. The facility plays a role in streamlining operations, enhancing consistency in service delivery, and supporting technical and administrative functions. The new office space is intended to accommodate growing teams and improve operational efficiency across the organization’s global network.
