Max Aerospace & Aviation Pvt Ltd has signed an agreement with the Maharashtra Industries Department to establish a helicopter manufacturing plant in Nagpur with an investment of INR 80 billion over the next eight years. The plant is expected to create around 2,000 direct and indirect jobs and commence manufacturing operations in 2026.

The facility will be set up near Nagpur Airport, providing access to established infrastructure and logistics networks. It will be focused on the customisation and complete production of helicopters and is expected to serve as a Centre of Excellence for rotary-wing platforms, including integration and flight testing.

The agreement was signed in Mumbai between Industries Secretary P. Anbalagan and Bharat Malkani, Chairman of Max Aerospace. Other attendees included MIDC CEO P. Velrasu, Meghna Malkani (Head of Business Development), Kirit Mehta (Chief Financial Officer), Jayesh Mehta (President), and senior advisors Neeraj Behere and Devdatt Vanare.

According to Malkani, Nagpur offers a well-developed ecosystem for defence manufacturing, and the state government has provided the necessary support for setting up the facility. He selected Nagpur for this investment to contribute to developing helicopter manufacturing capabilities in the state.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured government support for the project’s timely execution and highlighted the potential of Nagpur’s infrastructure and industrial capabilities.
