L&T Semiconductor Technologies (LTSCT) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a National Innovation Hub for semiconductors and quantum technology. The hub will integrate advanced research, fabrication, and industrial expertise to support research and development in semiconductor devices, systems on chips, and quantum technology applications.

The initiative is expected to contribute to building capabilities in semiconductor design, manufacturing, and quantum technologies. It also includes provisions for skill development and nurturing talent for the sector.

The National Innovation Hub forms part of wider industry–academia collaborations, which also include agreements with institutions such as IIT Gandhinagar and C-DAC. The effort aligns with the Deep Tech Alliance, under which nearly USD 1 billion has been committed for innovation in semiconductors and other frontier sectors.

LTSCT stated that combining IISc’s advanced research with its design and development experience would help address challenges across the semiconductor value chain.

L&T Semiconductor Technologies is a subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, engaged in semiconductor design and development activities. The company focuses on building capabilities across semiconductor devices, systems, and related technologies.
