Axiro Semiconductor Pvt Ltd has launched a new fabless semiconductor design facility in Whitefield, Bengaluru. The centre is focused on developing integrated circuit (IC) designs for applications in 5G, 6G, defence, satellite communications, and industrial IoT. The announcement follows a USD 36 million investment by CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd, part of the Murugappa Group, marking its entry into the semiconductor design segment.
The new facility will serve as a hub for chip design and intellectual property creation. Axiro follows a fabless model, which involves designing semiconductors in-house while outsourcing manufacturing to global foundries. According to the company, this approach enables scalability, cost management, and rapid development cycles.
Axiro reports shipping millions of ICs per month to international clients, including Ericsson, Nokia, Hughes, and Siemens. The Bengaluru centre includes design labs and infrastructure to support an expansion of its R&D team by 2026. The company also stated that it is pursuing a roadmap focused on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.
CG Power Chairman Vellayan Subbiah said the company will continue to work closely with technology partners and academic institutions. “Breakthrough innovations and an unwavering commitment to excellence will continue to propel Axiro Semiconductor forward,” he said.
The inauguration was attended by executives from CG Power, representatives from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), and Axiro’s leadership, including CEO Naveen Yanduru and Non-Executive Director Anshumaan Ravi Swaminathan.
Axiro Semiconductor was incorporated in December 2024 as a subsidiary of CG Power and Industrial Solutions. The company is headquartered in Bengaluru.
