Vikram Solar Limited commissioned a 5 gigawatt module manufacturing facility in Vallam, Tamil Nadu on 26 November 2025, increasing its total module manufacturing capacity to 9.5 gigawatts. The facility has been developed to supply modules for utility-scale, commercial and industrial, and distributed generation requirements.

The Vallam plant spans 27,000 square metres and is built on tunnel-oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) technology with engineering provisions to accommodate future heterojunction (HJT) upgrades. The line is configured for M10, G12 and G12R wafer formats and incorporates a high level of automation, including intelligent robotics, advanced material-handling systems, in-line quality monitoring and fully automated packaging.

The company said the automated setup is expected to enhance throughput, reduce defect rates and improve consistency in manufacturing. Operational integration with its existing Oragadam facility is intended to strengthen overall supply reliability and reduce production lead times. The Vallam commissioning follows the foundation ceremony of the company’s planned Gangaikondan facility, indicating a wider expansion programme within Tamil Nadu.

“The commissioning of Vallam demonstrates our readiness for the scale, speed, and innovation the next decade demands,” said Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman and Managing Director of Vikram Solar Limited. “As we complete over twenty years in this industry, this facility reflects our intent to shape what comes next: advanced manufacturing, automation-led quality, and technology platforms that become new benchmarks for the sector.”

The company has outlined a workforce plan that includes achieving 40 to 50 percent gender diversity at the facility as operations stabilise and scale up.

Vikram Solar Limited is a photovoltaic module manufacturer headquartered in Kolkata, with a distribution network that includes authorised distributors, dealers and system integrators across domestic and international markets.
