INOX Air Products Private Limited signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Odisha Limited (IPICOL) to establish a 2×1,300 tonnes per day air separation unit (ASU) at Tata Steel’s Meramandali site in Odisha. The MoU was signed on 16 January 2026 during the Odisha Investors’ Meet held in Kolkata, marking a formal step toward the proposed industrial gases project.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Industry Minister Sampad Charan Swain. The proposed ASU will be located within the Tata Steel facility at Meramandali and is intended to support industrial gas requirements at the site.
The company said the MoU outlines the intent to set up two air separation units, each with a capacity of 1,300 tonnes per day. Air separation units typically produce oxygen, nitrogen and argon for use in steelmaking and other industrial processes, although the company did not disclose specific product allocations or timelines for commissioning.
The development was discussed at meetings involving senior representatives from INOX Air Products and officials from the Government of Odisha and IPICOL. Siddharth Jain, Managing Director of INOX Air Products, represented the company at the event and met with state government officials on the sidelines of the investors’ meet.
The MoU forms part of the state government’s broader efforts to attract industrial investment into Odisha through investor outreach events. IPICOL is the nodal agency for industrial promotion and investment facilitation in the state and acts as an interface between investors and government departments.
INOX Air Products stated that the project reflects its intention to expand its presence in eastern India through large-scale on-site gas supply arrangements linked to major industrial consumers. No information was provided on the total investment value, project schedule, employment numbers, or regulatory approvals associated with the proposed facility.
