Borosil Limited approved the establishment of a new glassware manufacturing facility in Bharuch, Gujarat, and the expansion of borosilicate glass furnace capacity at its existing plant in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The company’s Board of Directors approved the projects at its meeting held on 10 March 2026.
The Bharuch project will involve an estimated capital expenditure of INR 420 million and will be financed through internal accruals. Commercial production at the facility is expected to begin by December 2026, subject to receipt of necessary approvals.
The Bharuch unit will manufacture glassware products and will include dedicated mass production lines. The company currently sources several glassware items, including storage jars, glass bottles, and glass jugs, from Borosil Scientific Limited’s plant in Bharuch.
The company plans to establish the facility to address increasing market demand for these glassware product categories.
In a separate development, the board also approved the expansion of the borosilicate glass furnace for pressware products at the company’s plant in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The existing furnace has a production capacity of 25 tonnes per day and operates at approximately 90 percent utilisation.
The company plans to expand furnace capacity from 25 tonnes per day to 32 tonnes per day by adding a third forming line. The expansion will be aligned with the furnace rebuild cycle scheduled for January 2028.
The Jaipur project is expected to involve an estimated capital expenditure of INR 500 million and will also be financed through internal accruals. According to the filing, the expansion is intended to address increasing demand for borosilicate glass pressware products and remove capacity constraints while enabling product diversification and improved operating efficiency.
